Hard time to begin with in 2014 so I’m late to wish you all the best for 2014. To make amends, a little composition withe Honey as guest star
After hours
At the beginning of september, Gwen (aka Guenièvre) and Honey were in for their first official coursing at Barlin, Pas de Calais. Gwen got out with it rather nicely as she was first and got the CACP and had the best score of the day all breeds taken together. To celebrate, and as the next day was a day off, we had planed to come back home by the long way round passing by Fort Mahon Plage. We arrived at about 7 PM and the whippets, that had already ran two round of coursing that day, released what was “left” of their energy. Seemingly, their was some left

The bad weather, arriving from the land, compelling us to go back directly to the Crocoland for the night

Rougé (Brittany) all races speciality Lure Coursing
Saturday, october the 26th. the whippets ran at the all race speciality lure coursing of Rougé (Loire Atlantique Brittany).
The drawing lot for the races led Honey and Gwendolyn to run together in the morning. I must say that I was very disappointed because Honey is still babyish and always uses Gwendolyn as a squeak toy. But I was wrong, the lure’s appeal was stronger than Gwendolyn’s and Honey simply ignored her.
On the afternoon, it was with Gwen, my Blanchette, that Honey ran and even if her race was splendid, she couldn’t outdo her cousin’s streches and her score was eaten out by Gwen.
As for Bayou, being, faithfull to his reputation, took the lure in full speed during the last straight line, owning 4 point (of 5 available for the capture).
The best scores of the day were 44 points either for the females or the males (the maximum possible being 53 pts counting the bonus points).
For the Keep on Running Family and the females :
Gwen (Keep on Running Gwynnever the White Enchantress) : 3rd ex aequo of 26 competitors with 42 pts
Gwendolyn (Keep on Running Good Day Sunshine) : 7th ex aequo with 41 pts
Honey (Keep on Running Here Comes the Sun) 9th ex aequo with 39 pts
Dixie (Keep on Running Dixie’s Blue Note) : 9th ex aequo with 39 pts
Mary (Keep on Running Bloody Mary) : 9th ex aequo with 39 pts
For the males :
Bayou (Keep on Running Blue Bayou) : 16th of 25 competitors with 39 pts

Disco
In my brain there walks about,
As though he were in his own home,
A lovely cat, strong, sweet, charming.
When he mews, one scarcely hears him,

His tone is so discreet and soft;
But purring or growling, his voice
Is always deep and rich;
That is his charm and secret.
That voice forms into drops, trickles
Into the depths of my being,
Fills me like harmonious verse
And gladdens me like a philtre.

It lulls to sleep the sharpest pains,
Contains all ecstasies;
To say the longest sentences,
It has no need of words,

No, there’s no bow that plays upon
My heart, that perfect instrument,
And makes its most vibrant chord
Sing more gloriously

Than your voice, mysterious cat,
Seraphic cat, singular cat,
In whom, as in angels, all is
As subtle as harmonious!

CACS Bailleul Sur Thérain
Sunday, mai the 26th, we were at a small dog show, near Beauvais. I had entered Gwen, Gwendolyn and Honey. I was happy enjoying Brigitte’s company and she was my photographer of the day, so that I’ll have happy memories of this if not sunny at least dry day as we have had no rain (and that’s enough scarce nowadays to mention).
Now, here come the pictures, with Gwen in intermediate class. She behaved very well, knowing she had had no ring training at all
Very well, she’s first of her class
Now it’s Gwendolyn’ turn, in working class (she needed only two coursing to fulfil the conditions allowing her entering in working class in national shows, for CACIB, she’ll need at least running three more CACIL).
starting up and speeding away…
You’re looking at me aren’t you ?
Gwendolyn won her class too (they were four in her class)
and now, Gwen is back, handled by Brigitte (note that she can be everywhere at one : taking picture and the same time handling Gwen 😀 ) for the CACS judgement
and an other grand-daughter of Spike (Multi CH Taraly Malcom X) : Fille de Fleur à la Promenade du Roi (unfortunately, I haven’t any picture of this nice young lady). Gwendolyn got the CACS and Gwen, her sister the RCACS.
Then, it was little Honey’s turn, in the young class (alone in her class)
Really ? One must stretch itself ? I’ll give you a first-rate streching…
What ? It’s too much ? Yet the knuckles are strictly vertical…
Finaly, Gwendolyn was “Best of Breed” and furthermore 3rd of the Best of the Tenth Group : what a nice day !
